    Rising from her Florida roots to sprinting stardom, Skyler Franklin has emerged as one of the most electrifying high school athletes in U.S. and international track & field.

Early Beginnings

  • At just nine years old, Franklin discovered her love for running after starting in cheerleading—her speed quickly outpaced the rest, prompting her mom to suggest track  .
  • As a fifth grader, she shocked spectators by running 55.29 s in the 400 m at the 2019 Georgia Relays, later clinching her first AAU Junior Olympic title in the 400 m.

Ascent in the Sprinting World

  • In eighth grade, Skyler claimed both 200 m and 400 m titles at Adidas Outdoor Nationals, demonstrating early dominance  .
  • Sophomore year saw her burst onto the national stage with a staggering 51.66 s in the 400 m at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational—making her the fastest sophomore in U.S. history and breaking into the top 10 all-time high-school performances  .
  • She topped that with a stunning 51.01 s at the Puma Holloway Pro Classic against collegiate and professional competitors—now ranked 3rd all-time in U.S. high school history for the 400 m.

🇯🇲 Switching Allegiance & International Success

  • Holding dual citizenship, Skyler opted to represent Jamaica in international competitions—a move that earned her victory in the 400 m and a silver in the 200 m at the Jamaican U20 Championships  .
  • Her 51.01 s mark is now the 2nd-fastest by any Jamaican U20 athlete (just behind Sandie Richards’ 50.92 s from 1987).

Record of Excellence & Accolades

  • Dominated Nike Indoor Nationals, winning the 400 m crown, and helped her Montverde Academy team secure gold in the 4×400 relay at New Balance Nationals Outdoor  .
  • Personal bests: 7.46 s (60 m), 11.44 s (100 m), 23.00 s (200 m), 37.56 s (300 m), and 51.01 s (400 m)—all achieved before graduation  .
  • Signed a groundbreaking NIL deal with Brooks, becoming one of the first high school athletes to receive such a partnership.

Future Path – LSU Tigers

  • Originally slated for class of 2026, Skyler reclassified to 2025 and will join LSU’s elite sprint program under Coach Dennis Shaver in Fall 2025  .
